Most of think we need an idea or a solution to fix an obstacle or challenge we have in our life. A way through. A way forward, but we can not hear the idea, because we have no clarity in the situation. That is why we don't get any ideas or can't think straight regarding that issue or obstacle.
First we have to remove the negative emotion so if we are feeling rage, or anger. Maybe even depression in regards to that obstacle then we have cut ourselves off. It's tough to find a way through, so first that emotion has to be released. Once it is released or even weakened then we will be able to see the situation again with clear or clearer lens and ideas will flow and we will find a way through it. So first whatever you are feeling in regards to that obstacle that needs work. That needs releasing, then you will hear ideas and a way through will flow to you.
